Wordless Wednesday: Mulberries

SNV30636

I picked these beautiful berries off the tree in our backyard. It's one of the things I really like about our rental house. Last year I just let the birds pick the berries; this year I grabbed some for me!

These are really delicious. A friend and I made some mulberry freezer jam with them, and I felt so Betty Crocker. My hope for this summer is to move on to canning tomato sauce and pizza sauce. High aspirations!

Wordless Wednesday: Easter

Slightly belated because of our 4-day power outage, but here are some pictures of Easter at our home. I of course took zero pictures of the part where we had people over for dinner! Too busy talking and eating, I guess!

My dress is from Lane Bryant, Libbie's dress and hat are Janie and Jack bought at a consignment sale, and David's outfit is from Cracker Barrel - thanks to my sister, Ashley, for finding it!

Wordless Wednesday: 3 months times 2.

David at 3 months

Libbie at 3 months

I definitely think they look similar, but not super alike. Someday I will have to scan mine and Mr. V's baby pictures in here and do a comparison!

Someone told us tonight that we do make very beautiful kids. I would have to agree.

Wordless Wednesday: Valentines

In the midst of what have been some long, hard days, Valentine's Day was a gem.

Mr. V was off work, so we asked a friend to baby-sit and went and had lunch at an amazing Thai restaurant.

It was hovering around 60 outside, so all four of us went to the park in the afternoon. Blissful!

Wordless Wednesday

Libbie, just shy of 1 month:
David, just shy of 1 month:

SNV30221

Do they look alike? Some times I think yes and sometimes no. Libbie is basically my mini-me; I think David will look more like Mr. V. I really thought his eyes would turn brown, but they seem to be getting lighter and lighter like they might go blue like Libbie's (or maybe even green like mine).

In any case, I think they are two darn adorable kids.

Belly Pictures

33 weeks with Libbie
34 weeks with David

I keep thinking I am enormous this time ... but I may even be smaller than I was with Libbie. (I have gained a LOT less weight this time.) Poor David has the second-child plague already ... this is the first intentional belly picture I've taken the whole time!

Wordless Wednesday

Libbie thinks she is BIG STUFF when she plays with her LeapFrog Table. She's loved this thing since her birthday, six months ago, and isn't tiring of it! That's a good life in Toy World, if you ask me.

Struck

Today, I had a girl's lunch at my house. It was no big thing, just two women I've met through the Sunday School class we've been attending, and one daughter a little older than Libbie tagging along.

I've pretty much run out of grocery money for the month, so we feasted on what I had at home: chicken burgers from the freezer, loaded potato salad minus the missing ingredients of sour cream and onions, a vegetable tray with ranch dressing, oranges, and lemony iced tea.

Perhaps I've been deprived of girl time in the last weeks of new town-itis. But it was simply lovely.

For some reason, the remnants of the table struck me as beautiful.

Liquid in the glasses, wrinkles in the tablecloth, faded placemats, simple orange against blue, rarely used crystal ... in the late-afternoon light, it was gorgeous. It filled my heart with something thankful and peaceful. I didn't want to forget it.

So here it is.

It's a Cruel Trick of Nature and Photography

...that at 13 months, when she's the cutest thing on earth, it's impossible to get a good picture.

SNV33106

SNV33108

(First pigtails. Mommy's dream fulfilled!)

Mommy and Libbie

(The two of us, Thanksmas. She spit up and soaked my shirt, so I'm wearing this lovely thing Ashley found on clearance at the Walgreens. Heh. Also mad that Picnik could not get rid of her red-eye.)

Libbie and SnackTrap

(Blurry, wild, but Libbie. I am in love with this shirt--it looks brand new, found it for 1.99 at Thriftsmart!)

I know if I had a better camera, I could take pictures quickly enough that they wouldn't be blurry. Maybe? But this is our life, crazy and out-of-focus.

Not Really So Wordless Wednesday

In honor of my darling bloggy friend OhAmanda and the fact that she made the Disney Moms Panel (I am SO excited for her!), I thought I'd share some sort-of-retro Disney World pictures--if you consider 1998 retro! Ha!

I thought I had some older Disney pictures--we went when I was in elementary school and when I was 3 or 4--but apparently they haven't been scanned. I'll have to work on that!

Some notes on these pictures:

1. Look at my mom's hair.
2. I have never worn shorts that short since high school, and for good reason, trust me.
3. I wore a fanny pack. At 16. Yes, I was SUPER cool.
4. I think that was the trip Ashley found out from a waiter that all the guys who played Aladdin were only into other Aladdins, not Jasmine.
5. HELLO! My thighs are not meant for short shorts!!!

Anyway.

Wordless Wednesday

I just really liked the composition of this picture I took last week. Don't look too hard at Libbie's dirty sock. Oops.

If you click on this picture, you can see my Flickr Photostream. I'm participating in Project BD365, where you upload one picture a day and can see everyone else's (started October 1). So if you want, you can see all my daily pictures from my photostream (they're the ones labeled with a date).
